Before a tree comes down in Embrun

Embrun is in Russell Township, outside the City of Ottawa, so Ottawa's tree by-law does not apply here. Rules vary from one municipality to the next, so we check before taking down a tree near a road or municipal land.

Anywhere in Ontario, a tree whose trunk grows across the property line belongs to both neighbours (section 10 of the Forestry Act), and both must agree before it comes down.
